Metabolic potential for denitrification among members of the phylum Acidobacteriota. Phylogenomic analysis of 85 Acidobacteriota metagenome-assembled genomes (MAGs) containing denitrification genes recovered from tundra soils in Kilpisjärvi (northern Finland) and Stordalen Mire (northern Sweden), and 69 genomes of Acidobacteriota strains and candidate taxa. Maximum likelihood tree based on concatenated alignments of 23 ribosomal proteins and rooted with Escherichia coli ATCC 11775 (not shown). Genes encoding the nitrite (nirK), nitric oxide (norB), and nitrous oxide (nosZ) reductases were annotated using a three-step approach (see Methods)
