Hypothesized scenarios on the apple fruit microbiome and resistome. In scenario I the apple cultivar (Braeburn versus Royal Gala) drives the microbiome and resistome of the apple fruit. Scenario II suggests an impact of the global apple trade, including storage and transport, on the fruit microbiome and resistome. The map shows the apple production and trade network in 2018.
