Presence of these genera in each condition is represented by green squares. In the outer circles, blue indicates cosmopolitan genera i.e. present in all dark zone samples and all unmarked surface samples in all locations (‘Cosmopolitan’), and purple the dark zone-specific genera found in all dark zone samples in all locations (‘All dark zones’) and dark zone-specific genera found in all samples of certain dark zone locations (‘Certain dark zones’)
